Generous, lively, charming, bright.. we might probably run out of superlatives to best describe the soul about to come to light.


Teena Ghurburrun is amongst those who heal the world otherwise. Changing it one step at a time through precious stones, scallop/puka shells, polymer and recently with pearls; she is an up and coming contemporary jewellery designer. 


An 19” alumna, she is already a one-woman brain behind her eponymous business, mostly retailing online and going after the name of “Handicraft by Teena”. 


Working from the comfort of her home, she draws inspiration from her surroundings, Mother Nature and the trending accessories worn by today's generation of film stars, she says. She used to be a student excelling at fine arts. Truth be known, creativity flows in her blood since birth, on having a baker as mother. 


She specialises in ready-to-wear everyday collections. Should her customers wish for customised pieces of jewellery, she would at all times go the extra mile to please them, according to her close friends and relatives.


During her idle time, Teena does not miss the opportunity at all to keep up with crash courses, videos and other worthwhile material in the view of honing her jewellery making skills.


As a matter of fact, her innate passion for creating exquisite bracelets goes back to a decade ago when she would personally adorn her wrist with her hand-made creations. The colours would then interestingly speak volumes for themselves – completing her everyday outfit and mood, garnering the attention of all in close proximity with her.


She would receive orders time and again. Growing up, she would join Vatel Business School Mauritius to embark on a thriving career in Sales, Marketing and Communication within the hotel sector.


The then 22-year-old entrepreneur would earn herself an on-the-job placement at Hotel 20 Degrés Sud by the department of her dreams in Oct 2019 / 20. There, she would be recommended by her colleagues to showcase her products one fine Tuesday, mid-summer 2019. She would go on hitting in the eyes of discerning guests and called to open her own line of jewellery.


Nowadays, an online business that had started with only 50 followers, it is a lucrative one close to 1000 followers via her Instagram page.
